May 2026 – ST Engineering Telematics Wireless, a leading provider of smart city wireless networks and control solutions, today announced that Georgia Power, a Southern Company, has selected its T‑Light Cellular NB‑IoT Lighting Control Units (LCUs) for a major new deployment across its street and area lighting infrastructure.
Under the agreement, 50,000 T‑Light Cellular NB‑IoT LCUs will be deployed across multiple counties and metropolitan areas in Georgia. The solution will operate over the SouthernLinc network, a Southern Company affiliate, providing secure, utility-grade cellular connectivity to support large-scale lighting control.
This latest deployment represents a significant step in the ongoing collaboration between Georgia Power and ST Engineering Telematics Wireless, leveraging next-generation cellular technology to expand and modernize existing smart lighting infrastructure.
For this project, ST Engineering Telematics Wireless’ BrightCity platform integrated with Georgia Power’s TerraGo platform, enabling unified operations and data management across the networked lighting system.
TerraGo provides a centralized operations platform for utilities, integrating asset data, field workflows, IoT devices, and enterprise systems into a single operational environment.
The platform supports infrastructure deployment, maintenance, and analytics, helping organizations improve operational efficiency and manage large-scale lighting and smart city assets more effectively.
Its capabilities include asset management, field data capture, system integration, and real-time collaboration across operational teams.
The T‑Light Cellular NB‑IoT solutionenables real-time monitoring and control of street and area lighting, while delivering high-reliability communications, simplified deployment, and reduced infrastructure requirements. By utilizing licensed cellular spectrum via SouthernLinc, the system ensures consistent performance, scalability, and long-term network sustainability.
The combined solution provides utilities with advanced capabilities including remote monitoring, proactive maintenance, outage detection, accurate energy measurement, and integrated operational workflows, enabling improved service levels and optimized infrastructure management.
Scotty Burkes, Outdoor Lighting Maintenance and Network Lighting Controlled Systems Manager, Georgia Power:
“Leveraging the SouthernLinc network allows us to deploy a reliable[AH1] , utility-grade communications solution that meets the long-term needs of our lighting infrastructure. The combination of NB‑IoT technology with ST Engineering Telematics Wireless’ proven lighting controls gives us a scalable and future-ready platform to support our operations across Georgia.”
<Amir Hirsch, President & CEO, ST Engineering Telematics Wireless, commented**>:
“This deployment marks an important milestone in our work with Georgia Power and highlights the growing adoption of cellular-based smart lighting solutions in the U.S. market. The successful integration of our BrightCity platform with the TerraGo operations platform reflects the strong teamwork and close coordination across both organizations, giving Georgia Power an efficient, unified, and future-ready environment for managing its lighting assets .”
